Romina Iaconelli |

Creating advertising campaigns on Google is an amazing way to attract the right audience to your products, services or websites. Below we will go over the steps to create your first campaign on Google Ads .

The search campaign is perhaps the most commonly used type of campaign and refers to the option of displaying a text ad on the results page when a user performs a specific search. For this example, we are going to create a search campaign.

Create your first campaign on Google Ads

1️⃣First of all, we will log in to your Google Ads account, enter your username and password.

2️⃣Once inside the platform, click on the campaigns tab and select new campaign.

3️⃣ A new screen will open, in which you select the objective of the campaign. This will depend on what you want to achieve with your campaign, this option allows you to guide the type of campaign you are going to create, i.e.

The campaign structure will follow the objective you select.

In this case, we will create a search campaign, so it is not essential to select the objective; we can simply select to create a campaign without a specific objective.

4️⃣A new screen will then appear where you must select the campaign type.

For this exercise we will choose search.

When you select the campaign type, you will be asked what results you want to achieve with the campaign. You can choose an option or leave it blank and click continue.

5️⃣ Next, start the general configuration of the campaign. We recommend identifying the appropriate campaign so that you can locate it more easily later.

You will also need to tell Google where you want your ads to appear.

By default Google includes the Search Network and the Display Network, you can disable what is not of interest to you or leave them that way.

If you display the more details tab you will be able to specify other details about your campaign, such as the start and end date of the campaign. This is important since if you do not place it, the ads will continue to be published and therefore cover expenses.

Next, you make your targeting and audience settings. In this tab, you must select the location of your ad, in other words, where you want your ad to be displayed, this is what the objective is. You are allowed the option to do an advanced search, this means that you can specify the area where you want your ad to appear.

Now let's move on to the language settings, here you must indicate the language spoken by the users who will see your ad.

Google defaults to an option that depends on the location you have selected, however, you can adjust it to your preference.

Now the audiences tab appears. In this example, since it is a search campaign, you do not need to specify any details.

Next is the Budget and Bids tab, where you specify how much and how you want to spend your daily budget.

The daily budget you choose will be what you have available for daily spending, but it is not what you are going to spend, that comes from the clicks you have each day.

In your bids, you can specify what you want to focus on, conversions, clicks, value or impression shares. You will have the option to select from Google how much the cost per action is or a maximum bid to spend.

It will depend on the objective selected: conversions, clicks, among others.

In the more options tab you can specify other details about your ads depending on your interests, for example, you can select the frequency and time at which you want your ads to appear, you can also add more specifications according to your interests.

After finding the ad extensions tab, you can add them at this point or create the ad group first.

At this point we will click on save and continue.

Google Ads configuration is now created

6️⃣Now I moved on to configure the ad group, you can create as many ad groups as you want.

It is recommended that you leave the standard option for this type of ad group unless you already have experience and know how to manage dynamic ads.

In this tab you will create a list of keywords for your ad, as well as use match types to control searches in your ads.

All that's left to do is click Save and Continue, and you'll have your ad group set up.

7️⃣It's time to create your ads. You must specify the information that the platform asks you for.

In your ads you must include the information that you want users to see when your ad is displayed. It is important to give relevance to the most important information.

The description of your ad should grab the attention of potential customers and pique their curiosity.

Once your ad is ready, you must click on finish and create another ad or you can click on save and continue, this way you will have already created your first ad in Google Ads.

8️⃣ When you click on save and continue you will have already created your campaign and will see a summary of the created campaign.

If you click on Go to campaign and you will see your campaign on the platform.

Once here, you will have the opportunity to adjust your campaign as you wish and improve all the details whenever you need to. That is, you can make all the changes your campaign requires.

For example, you can add more keywords, change settings, modify your ad placement, vary your bids, adjust your ad schedule, create new ad groups, and more.

You can now design your campaigns, start increasing your sales and make the most of all the tools that Google Ads offers.

We hope these steps have been helpful in creating your first Google Ads campaign.
